About the founder:

     Hi, I'm Sebastian Wangamez, founder and director of Camp Playa! I was born and raised here in San Francisco, and have over 4 years of camp-coaching experience and over 15 years of soccer experience. I am CPR & Lifeguard certified, ensuring your kid has a safe time in the water and playing sports!

​

     Growing up in the city, I spent most of my time outdoors, playing soccer, surfing, fishing, or exploring our beautiful local parks. My love for the outdoors led me to study Biology at Cal Poly (San Luis Obispo), where I have cultivated my passions for teaching and wildlife ecology.

​

     My vision for this camp is to show the youth everything SF has to offer, from soccer and surfing by the beach, to unique local fauna, and historic landmarks. SF is a truly unique city, with loads of things to see and explore. My aim is to create an unforgettable summer experience for your child to have fun, learn new skills, and stay active!

Hi, I’m Thomas Wang. During the school year, I am a horticulture instructor at our local community college. I have been a surfer and fisherman for over forty years on the California coast, and a soccer coach for around seven. My favorite activities are telling and listening to stories. I am First Aid & CPR Certified, and fluent in both Spanish and Mandarin Chinese. Looking forward to guiding campers in adventures along the Bay and exploring the beauty of nature!
